Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
When she was growing up, Dr. Sudhoff would see her mother running into her patients wherever they went, as she was a dental hygienist. This was very cool for her to see and her interest in the field of dentistry only grew further during her senior year at Glastonbury High School. During this time, she took a course about designing and conducting scientific research about creating and completing a small study. She spent time conversing with patients in a periodontology office and a cardiology office to understand the link between gingivitis and cardiac disease.
The best part of this experience was engaging in friendly banter and the upbeat atmosphere of the dental office, as the doctors knew the patients over many years. After this course, Dr. Sudhoff applied to the University of Connecticut’s combined degree program in dentistry which would accept her upon completion of her undergraduate degree. She hasn’t looked back since!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Sudhoff studied at the University of Connecticut for both her undergraduate degree and dental doctorate. She went on to complete a general practice residency program at Hartford Hospital and then spent several years working at a high-end cosmetic dental office. While she practices the majority of aspects of dentistry, she enjoys addressing sleep cases and performing aesthetic procedures the most.
