Dr. Matthew Scoles received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2000. He then spent a year working for the Henry M. Jackson Foundation in Rockville, MD performing scientific research on potential HIV vaccines. Dr. Scoles then attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington, CT and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2005. He then completed a general practice residency program at Hartford Hospital, and continues to aggressively attend continuing education courses. As a pre-doctoral student, Dr. Scoles served as a preceptor and tutor for first year medical and dental students in the head and neck anatomy laboratories. He also, along with four of his classmates, organized a dental mission trip to Independence, Belize to provide oral hygiene instruction, sealants, and tooth extractions for the town’s residents. At his graduation he received the American College of Prosthodontics Award, The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Award, and awards in oral radiology, oral diagnosis, and community service. Dr. Scoles was proud to return to his hometown and join Glastonbury Dental in 2006. He volunteers his time assisting Glastonbury Youth and Family Services fall and summer musical productions, and is a board member of Friends of Glastonbury Youth. Dr. Scoles is a member of the American Dental Association, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Hartford Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. |
